Indian Coast Guard has just today issued the advertisement for recruitment of Yantriks for the batch 02-2014. If you are not aware, let me tell you that Yantriks are the staff-level positions, which mans the Indian Coast Guard machines (i.e. Yantras) - in the ships and aircrafts. Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical/ Electronic Engg. is the minimum qualification required to apply for this Coast Guard recruitment. Without wasting time further, let us know what is a Yantrik job in Indian Coast Guard.
As the name signifies, a “Yantrik” is a man who mans the "Yantras" i.e. the machines. They are said to be the backbone of Coast Guard.
Indian Coast Guard has a fleet of close to 100 ships in service and 156 other ships in various stages of construction. In addition, it operates a fleet of 38 Dornier maritime surveillance aircraft, 9 HAL Dhruv and 18 HAL Chetak utility helicopters.
Job profile of Yantriks includes operating and maintaining the mechanical/ electrical/ aeronautical machinery fitted on above fleet of Coast Guard ships and aircrafts. In addition, they also operate the weapon systems in case of emergency.
Salary offered to Coast Guard Yantrik:
Indian Coast Guard offers the Yantriks salary of about Rs. 20,000/- per month approx while joining. In addition there is free ration/clothing/medical treatment for self and family and Govt. accommodation.
With good performance, you can rise upto to the rank of Pradhan Sahayak Engineer with pay scale Rs. 9300-34800 plus Grade pay @ Rs. 4800/- and even to the Officer cadre.

Age Eligibility:
Min. 18 years, Max: 22 years (DOB from 1st August 1992 to 31st Jul 1996)
Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.
Academic Qualification Eligibility:
Matriculate + Min. 60% in aggregate in 3-years Diploma in Mechanical /Electrical/ Electronic Engg.
Relaxation: 5% for SC/ ST candidates, National level sports person and wards of Coast Guard personnel deceased while in service.
Qualifications should be from Board/Institute recognised by Board of Central/State Government.
On top of above eligibility, you have to posses the "Medical Standards" as given in section 8.0 in page: 3 of the notification.
Selection process for Coast Guard Yantrik recruitment:
The selection process consists of a written test i.e. Coast Guard Yantrik Exam 2014, followed by Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Interview and initial Medical Examination those are selected in the written test.
The Physical Fitness consists of 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes, 20 squat ups and 10 Push ups.
